This wheel thrown stoneware pot was woodfired in the Yamagama Kiln in Index WA. It was in the front firebox stack of a 120 hour firing. The kiln was held at 2250+ degrees F. for at least 2 days. The green/yellow glaze on the shoulder of this vessel is natural deposit of fly ash from burning 4 cords of wood in the kiln, melting and creating glaze. of The interior is lined with glaze made from wild clay. Sea shells were used to separate kiln furniture from from the pot, leaving shell impressions on the surface. Non-glassy textures are sanded with fine grit diamond pads post firing giving a luscious texture to the matt clay surface.
